International Language Corner is a language school with several schools both in Italy and abroad and it has many partner schools in destinations around the world.

Characterised by a young and dynamic environment and a modern structure,ILC has more than 2000 students a year. The ILC Staff is trained so that each student reaches his or her individual goals. Since the opening of its first school ILC has worked with students of all ages, ensuring that each student is taught by mother tongue experts qualified in teaching their language to foreigners and guaranteeing an efficient learning method to achieve different objectives. The teaching method of ILC allows students to develop the 4 language skills with focus on communicative skills developed through the simulation of real life situations. ILC’s flagship school is in the town of Varese, located 60 km north of Milan, 40 km from Lake Maggiore and 55 km from Lake Como. The school, in the centre of the town welcomes international students wishing to combine a cultural experience in the beautiful area in North Italy whilst studying Italian. Italian is a fast-growing language, every year more and more students travel to Italy to study the language for a period of one week to a year. There are many reason why our students choose to study Italian, be it for the musicality of the language or for the beauty of the country. General Italian

Our general Italian course develops all 4 language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) either in small groups, average 4 participants (class course) or on-to-one lessons (individual course). ILC’s method focuses on improving speaking and listening skills so students get accustomed to everyday real life situations which may occur when travelling abroad or in the office.

  • After the assessment test (written and oral), you will speak to the Director of Studies who, after ascertaining your language objectives, will tailor make a course specific to your goals.
  • Lessons are held every day, from Monday to Friday, from 9.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. or from 2.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. Upon request it is possible to attend the course also in the evenings.

Business Italian

The business Italian course has been studied for students who want to learn and perfect the use of Italian in specific business sectors. The duration of the course is a minimum of one week and consists of 15 hours (individual course) or 20 hours (group course.) Student can choose to focus on one of the following:
  • Business and management;
  • History of Art;
  • Tourism;
  • Food & Wine;
  • Italian Fashion;
  • Football

Italian and art

Italian is one of the most musical languages worldwide. The Italian ‘città d’arte’ cities of art, are among the most fascinating and rich in culture worldwide, By combining these factors ILC has developed the course ‘Italian and art’. A course which combines Italian language and culture whilst visiting the most beautiful cities of art in the world. It is in fact a known fact that 25% of the artistic masterpieces are found in different capitals of the world, while the remaining 75% of artistic masterpieces are found on Italian territory. Visiting Italy means coming in to contact with its magnificent history, its artistic heritage, but also getting to know the customs and traditions of one of the top 10 economic powers in the world.
Characteristcs
The course is a minimum of two weeks, the first week is dedicated to a course on ‘Italian language and culture’ standard (15 hours per week from 9 am to 1 pm, Monday to Friday with a 30 minute break) or Intensive (25 hours per week from 9 am to 12.30 pm and from 3 pm to 5 pm) and a one week tour of the Italian cities of art with a local tour guide with a degree in the History of Art. Tours:
  • 1 week: Milan, Bergamo, Verona, Venice
  • 2 weeks: Milan, Verona, Venice, Florence, Rome
  • 3 weeks: Milan, Verona, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples
  • Lessons are given by qualified mother tongue language teachers in possession of the DITALS certificate, allowing them to teach Italian to foreigners. The guided tours are given by professionals with degrees in the History of Art.

Italian Food & Wine

Tradition, quality, creativity, great taste and sophistication: What do these ingredients have on common? Easy, Italian cuisine! Famous throughout the world, Italian cuisine is a success story, it is full of allure, tasty and worth getting to know better. ILC has developed a course for lovers of the Italian cuisine and wine which combines studying Italian and the art of Italian wine and food. Learn Italian whilst immersing yourself into the history and the recipes of Italy, taste great dishes, refine techniques, all whilst learning and… eating and drinking!
Characteristics
Programme:
  • The Italian course: 15 hours of Italian lessons per week, with a focus on wine and food, is held in the mornings.
  • Afternoons: One workshop Italian cooking (4 Hours) and one.workshop Italian wine tasting (4 hours) per week
  • Lessons are given by qualified mother tongue language teachers in possession of the DITALS certificate, allowing them to teach Italian to foreigners. The workshops are held by professional cooks and sommeliers.
Extra activities and themed evenings:
During the week there is the possibility to visit Milan, Turin, Genoa, Venice, Florence or Rome - all with a focus on wine and food. Every evening students may choose from the following:
  • Monday: Milanese dinner in a traditional restaurant in the Capital of Lombardy.
  • Tuesday: Typical Lombard dinner in Varese.
  • Wednesday: Pizza evening, in Legnano (MI) - the best pizza in Lombardy according to the Michelin Guide.
  • Thursday: Pasta evening in Varese - in a traditional restaurant.
  • Friday: From the aperitivo to the ‘amaro’, a traditional Italian dinner.

Italian and fashion

LC has structured a course ranging from 1 to 4 weeks, combining passion for Italy and passion for fashion and design. The renowned quadrilatero della moda, literally ‘fashion square’, is home to many jewellers, design boutiques, fashion designer and houses, given its name because four roads, Via Monte Napoleone, Via Alessandro Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia surround this area. The quadrilatero della moda is the district where the best stylists’ creations are at your fingertips. ILC has structured a course, from 1 to 4 weeks, the course includes 10 hours of Italian lessons per week and a full-immersion in the Italian fashion world (10 hours per week.) This package is ideal for people passionate about fashion, university students wishing to attend a fashion or design related course in the future or do a Masters in fashion design in Milan, as well as those working in the fashion industry who wish to attend an Italian course with a focus on their sector. You will learn specific vocabulary used in the fashion and design sector, as well as learning about the latest fashions and the history of Made in Italy. On top of this you will analyse the most famous Italian brands and fashion houses gaining exclusive in depth knowledge on the topic.

Walking around the Quadrilatero della moda is an amazing opportunity for tourists to breathe in the magic atmosphere of Milan, with its lit up shops, its elegant boutiques and colourful window displays. The best brands are always at your fingertips, from Armani, Versace, Alberta Ferretti, Dolce e Gabbana, Prada, Fendi, to Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Bulgari, Cartier, Valentino andGianfranco Ferrè. Via Monte Napoleone is at the heart of the district, considered to be one of the most elegant and prestigious roads in the world, on a par with Fifth Avenue, New York and the Avenue des Champs Elysees, Paris. Lessons take place at ILC’s school in the ‘Casco Antiguo’ of Cadiz, the historic city centre. Standard lesson ties are from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm, with a 30-minute break. Upon request, it is possible to participate in an intensive course of 30-hours per week. On day 1 students will do an entry test and based on their level will join the appropriate class. The lessons are based on a communicative approach and all the teachers are qualified and mother tongue. Students receive an attendance certificate at the end of the course. Upon request, the course can be structured in preparation for the DELE examination.
