International Language Corner is a language school with several schools both in Italy and abroad and it has many partner schools in destinations around the world.

Characterised by a young and dynamic environment and a modern structure,ILC has more than 2000 students a year. The ILC Staff is trained so that each student reaches his or her individual goals.

Since the opening of its first school ILC has worked with students of all ages, ensuring that each student is taught by mother tongue experts qualified in teaching their language to foreigners and guaranteeing an efficient learning method to achieve different objectives.

The teaching method of ILC allows students to develop the 4 language skills with focus on communicative skills developed through the simulation of real life situations. ILC’s flagship school is in the town of Varese, located 60 km north of Milan, 40 km from Lake Maggiore and 55 km from Lake Como. The school, in the centre of the town welcomes international students wishing to combine a cultural experience in the beautiful area in North Italy whilst studying Italian.

Italian is a fast-growing language, every year more and more students travel to Italy to study the language for a period of one week to a year. General Italian

Our general Italian course develops all 4 language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) either in small groups, average 4 participants (class course) or one-to-one lessons (individual course). ILC’s method focuses on improving speaking and listening skills so students get accustomed to everyday real life situations which may occur when travelling abroad or in the office.

Course Features
  • Certified mother tongue teachers.
  • Pupils can attend individual lessons or mini-group courses consisting of a maximum of 6 people per group (with the same level of Italian).
  • After the assessment test (written and oral), you will speak to the Director of Studies who, after ascertaining your language objectives, will tailor make a course specific to your goals.
  • Lessons are held every day, from Monday to Friday, from 9.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. or from 2.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. Upon request it is possible to attend the course also in the evenings.

Specialized Italian

The specialized Italian course has been studied for students who want to learn and perfect the use of Italian in specific business sectors. The duration of the course is a minimum of one week and consists of 15 hours (individual course) or 20 hours (group course). Student can choose to focus on one of the following: Business and management, history of art, tourism, food & wine, italian fashion, football course features.

Course Features

Group and ministay

This program is for schools and groups (minimum 15 students) that during the academic year wish to study in Italy for a week. The offer is open to groups that already study Italian in their school and come to Italy for a short period to consolidate and improve the language. The classes are held by qualified mother tongue teachers.

Extra activities and themed evenings

For Erasmus & Au Pair

Are you an Erasmus student or an au pair? Have you come to Italy to study? To work? Or for love? Feel at home in this fantastic country by learning the language and discovering the culture. For foreign students wanting to improve or perfect their Italian ILC has developed courses focused on communication skills; reading, understanding and writing, while at the same time improving grammar and vocabulary. To be able to fit in in a country knowing the language is not enough.
At ILC we understand this and we have developed a programme of fun cultural activities and excursions for students wanting to immerse themselves 360° into the Italian culture.

Course Features
  • The classes are taught by mother tongue teachers in possession of the DITALS qualification enabling them to teach their mother tongue to foreign students.
  • The maximum number of students per class is 10
  • Students are divided into classes based on their level of Italian
  • After a written and oral level test which assesses the students’ level of Italian, a programme based on each students’ specific objectives will be followed.
  • Classes are held once or twice a week, depending on the student’s availability, either from 10.00 to 12.00 or from 17.30 to 19.30 at ILC’s main school, located in the centre of Varese. Upon request it is possible to organise the Italian course in the evenings (19.00-21.00)

Each week ILC organises one afternoon or evening activity and a full day excursion at weekends.

Italian Food & Wine

Tradition, quality, creativity, great taste and sophistication: what do these ingredients have on common? Easy, Italian cuisine!

Famous throughout the world, Italian cuisine is a success story, it is full of allure, tasty and worth getting to know better. ILC has developed a course for lovers of the Italian cuisine and wine which combines studying Italian and the art of Italian wine and food. Learn Italian whilst immersing yourself into the history and the recipes of Italy, taste great dishes, refine techniques, all whilst learning and... eating and drinking!

Course Features
  • The Italian course: 15 hours of Italian lessons per week, with a focus on wine and food, is held in the mornings.
  • Afternoons: One workshop Italian cooking (2 Hours) and one workshop Italian wine tasting (2 hours) per week.
  • Lessons are given by qualified mother tongue language teachers in possession of the DITALS certificate, allowing them to teach Italian to foreigners. The workshops are held by professional cooks and sommeliers.

Italian and art

Italian is one of the most musical languages worldwide. The Italian ‘città d’arte’ cities of art, are among the most fascinating and rich in culture worldwide; by combining these factors, ILC has developed the course ‘Italian and art’.

A course which combines Italian language and culture whilst visiting the most beautiful cities of art in the world. It is in fact a known fact that 25% of the artistic masterpieces are found in different capitals of the world, while the remaining 75% of artistic masterpieces are found on Italian territory. Visiting Italy means coming in to contact with its magnificent history, its artistic heritage, but also getting to know the customs and traditions of one of the top 10 economic powers in the world.

Course Features
The course is a minimum of two weeks, the first week is dedicated to a course on ‘Italian language and culture’ standard (15 hours per week from 9 am to 1 pm, Monday to Friday with a 30 minute break) or Intensive (25 hours per week from 9 am to 12.30 pm and from 3 pm to 5 pm) and a minimum one week tour of the Italian cities of art with a local tour guide with a degree in the History of Art.

Tours:
  • 1 week: Milan, Bergamo, Verona, Venice.
  • 2 weeks: Milan, Verona, Venice, Florence, Rome
  • Lessons are given by qualified mother tongue language teachers in possession of the DITALS certificate, allowing them to teach Italian to foreigners. The guided tours are given by professionals with a degree in History of Art.

Italian and fashion

ILC has structured a course ranging from 1 to 4 weeks, combining passion for Italy and passion for fashion and design. The renowned quadrilatero della moda, literally "fashion square", is home to many jewellers, design boutiques, fashion designer and houses, given its name because four roads, Via Monte Napoleone, Via Alessandro Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia surround this area.

The quadrilatero della moda is the district where the best stylists’ creations are at your fingertips. ILC has structured a course, from 1 to 4 weeks, the course includes 10 hours of Italian lessons per week and a full-immersion in the Italian fashion world (10 hours per week).

This package is ideal for people passionate about fashion, university students wishing to attend a fashion or design related course in the future or do a Masters in fashion design in Milan, as well as those working in the fashion industry who wish to attend an Italian course with a focus on their sector.

You will learn specific vocabulary used in the fashion and design sector, as well as learning about the latest fashions and the history of Made in Italy. On top of this you will analyse the most famous Italian brands and fashion houses gaining exclusive in depth knowledge on the topic.

Activities and excursions Shopaholics come from all over the world to shop in the showrooms, boutiques and the Quadrilatero della moda. Even just window shopping is an amazing experience, the window displays in themselves are artistic creations. Walking around the Quadrilatero della moda is an amazing opportunity for tourists to breathe in the magic atmosphere of Milan, with its lit up shops, its elegant boutiques and colourful window displays. The best brands are always at your fingertips, from Armani, Versace, Alberta Ferretti, Dolce e Gabbana, Prada, Fendi, to Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Bulgari, Cartier, Valentino and Gianfranco Ferrè. Via Monte Napoleone is at the heart of the district, considered to be one of the most elegant and prestigious roads in the world, on a par with Fifth Avenue, New York and the Avenue des Champs Elysees, Paris.

Just a stones throw from the Quadrilatero della moda, there is Corso Vittorio Emanuele, a wide road connecting the Milan Cathedral with San Babila. With its porticos full of both clothing and accessory shops this is another street considered to be at the centre of Milan’s shopping scene. ILC offers different afternoon guided tours of the Quadrilatero della moda, depending on the time of year of your trip and the events and shows which are on, ILC offers specific activities, including visits to show rooms, boutiques and fashion shows.

Boarding schools

Each year more and more high-school students decide to study abroad during the academic year, be it for a trimester, semester or a full year. This is a fantastic life experience which greatly benefits the student both from an academic and personal point of view, it is however, a choice that needs time and organisation to realise its full potential.

For these reasons ILC has carefully chosen the best schools in the areas of Milan, Varese and Como to host foreign students. After the student has chosen the school and host family, ILC will take care of all the details regarding the school and the host family, organising and aiding with the filling out of the necessary documentation and paperwork.

Course Features
Students attend school each morning from Monday to Friday.
